We know it when we see it, but how do we make sportsmanship an essential part of life for our kids? From the playground to the professional sports arena, there are literally hundreds of examples of good sportsmanship out there and we’ve all been witness to it. It’s the best feeling in the world to see your child display this coveted quality…and the worst feeling when he or she {or you for that matter} succumb to poor sportsmanship.

Gauchos in the Community

On Friday February 1, UC Santa Barbara Men’s Soccer attended Foothill Elementary School’s PE classes to teach the students some good ol’ soccer.  Players Matthew Glodack and Daniel Welsh showed the students how to kick and pass the soccer ball around, and then had a friendly game of soccer as a group.  Many of the kids were excited and eager to be taught by their role models and star players.  They answered questions about proper technique, showed the students some really awesome juggling skills they had, and went on to explain to the students how important it was to attend college and receive a degree.  The students in the PE class had a great experience and are extremely excited about student athletics in higher education, and are looking forward to watching the Guachos in the fall!
